Jesica Blandon Bio:

Jesica Blandon a 16 year old award winning writer, performer, youth community activist, mentor, and actress from the Bronx. As the 2009 Nuyorican Poets Café’s Youth Poet of The Year, Jesica has been featured in the NY Times and was recently honored by the Deputy Mayor of New York City as the first ever NYC Youth Poet Laureate Finalist. She is a 3 Time Inner-City High School Division Poetry Slam Champion, Urban Word NYC Finalist at the Apollo Theater, and Inaugural Intangible Poetry Slam Champion in Hell’s Kitchen. She has performed for events organized by Georgio Armani, Oscar Award Winning Philip Seymour Hoffman, and lead guitarist from the Grammy Award winning Black Crowes. As the recipient of Scholastic’s National as well as Regional Gold Key in Poetry, Jesica’s work has been published in George Lucas’ Edutopia Magazine on Arts Education, as well as Urban Word NYC’s Connect.Political.Ditto Anthology. Jesica Blandon is an Urban Word NYC Youth Board Member and lead workshop facilitator in police brutality & AIDS awareness at the Dream Yard Action Project.

Chef Michael M. teams with fellow culinary craftsmen, media personalities and performing artists to present SWEET CHARITY! “Pastry Tasting for Charity”.

New York City - October 13, 2009 - Since 2006, Comfort Zone Cooking Service has been committed, to providing delicious “North Meets South Cuisine” but also to ‘giving back’ to community by organizing charitable food events. CZC continues this commitment with its next event, SWEET CHARITY {Pastry Tasting for Charity}, December 13, 2009 from 5:30pm – 10pm. Location: 394 Broadway Floor 4 Tribeca New York. The admission price of $25 and a donated nonperishable item will go to supporting Food Bank For New York City. This event will feature local pastry chefs, giving individuals an opportunity to taste an array of sweets just in time to plan their holiday dinners and parties. It will also provide the participating chefs with an opportunity to promote their new businesses. SWEET CHARITY {Pastry Tasting for Charity} will be co-sponsored by the nationally syndicated, Initiative Radio with Angela McKenzie and talk show host, life and small business coach, and consultant Cory George.

Food Bank For New York City is a charity that works to end hunger; while raising much needed resources for the 1.3 million New Yorkers who rely on food pantries and soup kitchens to meet their daily nutritional needs. In doing so they are increasing access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income New Yorkers through a comprehensive group of programs such as direct services, food sourcing and distribution; also nutrition and health education that combats hunger and its causes.

Chef Michael believes in the reality and passion of this event. This he believes is the most sustainable, tangible, and substantial red carpet event that has immediate compact on our communities. This Event is a spark to the entrepreneurial spirit in a time of recession and job loss in the New York tri state area. Your participation in this event is helping to assist in launching the business success of those that wouldn’t have a platform to do so. Professionals out of passion and faith are stepping forward to start their own small businesses.

Initiative Radio with Angela McKenzie focuses on the philanthropic and altruistic activities of corporations both for profit and not-for-profit, inter-governmental organizations, persons of repute and everyday people. The program also gives exposure to under represented artists of all disciplines.

Corey George. His internet-based weekly radio show, In Touch with Cory George, is focused on providing relevant and relatable information. As founder of 360 Living, Cory provides life, relationship, and small business coaching services in hopes of encouraging his clients to realize and act on their potential to move forward.

Proceeds and admission donations will go to supporting Food Bank For New York City, a charity who works to end hunger and increase access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income New Yorkers through a comprehensive group of programs that combat hunger and its causes.

Pastry Tasting for Charity will be co-presented by the nationally syndicated, Initiative Radio, with Angela McKenzie. The program also gives exposure to under represented artists of all disciplines and in an effort to consistently engage a youthful audience, urban and alternative music specials are presented on a recurring basis.
